Day 0 - 8:40PM JPT

Still on the same Shinkansen that my previous entry was on. My muscles have started to ache and I really long for Hiroshima to be here. I must try not to sleep so that I can get to sleep tonight and get on Japan time. Melissa has been asleep for the past 2 hours or so, which I don’t mind. The view has been getting a little more exquisite, despite it still being pitch black and rainy. The car has been too warm for comfort and there is no air vent like there is on airplanes. A minor inconvenience, though.

Back from a nice long vacation

Well everyone, I’m finally back from a nice long vacation. If you haven’t noticed, my last post was from quite a while ago. Over the course of the past few weeks I have gotten married to my highschool sweetheart, Melissa and gone to Japan for our honeymoon. Being in Japan with Melissa was truly delightful and a wonderful experience, and over the course of the next few weeks I will be taking the 50-60 pages that I wrote up about Japan and posting it to my blog. Additionally, all the photos that I took will be posted as well. So, stay tuned.

Debian and Gentoo Security Awareness

I subscribe to both the Debian Security and Gentoo Security lists. I’m one of those concerned sys-admins who wants to make sure I’m not running a vulnerable copy of software. Well, is it just me, or has the amount of security vulnerabilities increased over the past few months?

Dickens on the Strand

A wonderful birthday to be had, December 3rd of this year held the date of Dickens on the Strand at Galveston, TX. I was accompanied by my wonderful fiancee, her best friend and a couple of our other friends, Brent and Lori. We had spent the night in a hotel close to downtown Houston and made our way down the long but not so treacherous drive that is I-45. Once there, we were blasted by furious gusts of cold wind which gave chills down everyone’s back. But, once through the gates, we had a good time watching everyone in costume, including taking lots of pictures, which I have graciously posted here:

IEEE LAN 2006

As I sit here administrating the CS: Source server during the 12th hour I’ve been working for the IEEE LAN, I feel multiple things.
